Scientists to Retest Tsunami Prediction Models

When Gerard Fryer, a geophysicist at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center was asked if he would have predicted a destructive tsunami in Hawaii after the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chili, He responded, “I would have said, ‘Unquestionably. It’s going to be a bad scene,’ and added, “Well, it wasn’t. And we have to figure out why it wasn’t.”
